Freight forwarder Brussels: direct road freight between the UK and Belgium

Are you looking for a freight forwarder in Brussels who moves your goods from the UK to the Belgian capital without detours? DAGO Express plans each consignment as a direct run. The vehicle collects the cargo at your premises in the UK and drives straight to the delivery address in Brussels. Because there is no reloading at a groupage depot on the way, your goods are handled as little as possible, which lowers the risk of transit damage and makes arrival times easier for your receiving department to plan.

Once you have booked your transport, a suitable vehicle is typically at your loading bay within 60 to 120 minutes. Collection at a fixed time is also possible if your site works to strict loading schedules. Our documented punctuality rate is 99.5 %. Whether you need a single pallet delivery for an office fit-out in the European Quarter or a full load for a distribution site near the ring road, a tracking link and email updates keep you informed from collection to delivery.

What we move to and from Brussels

Typical haulage consignments include Euro pallets, heavy machinery and spare parts, building materials, office furniture, printed matter, packaging, electronic components and exhibition stands for corporate events. The service works in both directions, so Belgian suppliers can also send goods to customers in England, Scotland or Wales through the same booking process.

Freight transport Brussels and
beyond

Logistics in Brussels: a capital with international demand

The Brussels-Capital Region brings together 19 municipalities and roughly 1.2 million residents. As the seat of the main EU institutions and of NATO, the city attracts embassies, associations, consultancies and international companies. All of these organisations need a steady flow of office equipment, IT hardware, furniture and event material. Many British organisations with a presence in Brussels therefore ship goods across the Channel on a regular basis.

Beyond the international institutions, the region has a strong economic base in trade, construction, food production and wholesale. The Port of Brussels, on the canal to the Scheldt, handles building materials and bulk goods close to the city centre. Brucargo, the freight zone at Brussels Airport in Zaventem, concentrates air cargo handlers and forwarding agents just outside the region.

Trade fairs at Brussels Expo on the Heysel plateau add seasonal peaks to the local freight volumes. Exhibition stands, displays and promotional material have to arrive on a precise date and leave again as soon as the doors close. For these jobs, reliable collection times and direct delivery matter most, which is where a door-to-door service from the UK pays off: the vehicle goes straight to the exhibition hall instead of waiting for a groupage schedule.

The route from the UK to Brussels

Most consignments cross the Channel on the Dover–Calais ferry or on Le Shuttle from Folkestone to Coquelles. From the French coast, the route leads past Dunkirk into Belgium and along the E40 via Bruges and Ghent directly to Brussels, covering a distance of roughly 200 km from Calais. The R0 ring road then distributes the commercial traffic to the various city districts and to the industrial areas on the edge of the capital.

Brussels is also well placed for onward haulage journeys. The E19 runs north to Antwerp and south towards Mons and Paris, the E40 continues east to Leuven and Liège, and the E411 heads south-east to Namur and Luxembourg. Keep in mind that the whole Brussels-Capital Region is a Low Emission Zone. The choice of vehicle matters for deliveries into the city, and we plan the transport accordingly.

Customs between the UK and Belgium

Because Belgium is an EU member state, goods moving from Great Britain need an export declaration on the UK side and an import declaration in the EU. Both the sender and the importer need valid EORI numbers. At Dover and the Channel Tunnel, these declarations are linked to the vehicle through the Goods Vehicle Movement Service (GVMS). Please arrange all declarations with your customs agent before collection, as DAGO Express does not handle customs clearance.

Collection and delivery in Brussels and the surrounding area

We collect and deliver throughout the 19 municipalities, from the busy office districts around the European Quarter and the North Station to the workshops and warehouses in Anderlecht, Forest and Haren. Business parks along the canal and in the Flemish periphery are covered as well, including Vilvoorde, Machelen, Zaventem and Groot-Bijgaarden. Further afield, towns like Leuven, Mechelen, Aalst, Halle and Wavre can be combined into the same trip when a consignment needs a second stop.

For deliveries inside the city, access times, narrow streets and loading restrictions often decide which vehicle makes the most sense for your freight. Tell us about any specific time windows, a required tail lift or a delivery to a fair hall when you book, and we will match the vehicle to the address.

The right vehicle for your consignment

Small shipments travel in a minivan with space for two Euro pallets and up to 450 kg. A van with a tail lift and a pallet truck takes eight pallets and up to 800 kg, with a maximum of 550 kg per package. This suits a pallet delivery to offices and shops without a loading dock. Larger haulage jobs move in a 6 LDM lorry with 14 pallets and up to 2,400 kg, a 7.2 LDM lorry with 18 pallets and up to 5,000 kg, or an articulated lorry with 13.6 loading metres for 33 Euro pallets and up to 24 tonnes.

Deliveries to more than 38 countries

Your freight forwarder between the UK and Brussels

DAGO Express organises road freight across a network of more than 50,000 vehicles in 38 countries, and over 15,000 companies already book their shipments with us. If a vehicle breaks down, a replacement vehicle takes over immediately. Cross-border runs are carried out by verified partners with a valid EU licence and, where the goods require it, an ADR licence. Our team monitors shipments around the clock, including at weekends and on public holidays.

Your goods are insured through the Schunck Group up to 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight, and additional cover for higher-value goods can be arranged at short notice before loading. After booking, you receive a tracking link and email updates at collection and delivery. The DAGO ShipperHub brings all orders, ETAs and reports together in one place, with export to PDF or Excel and integration into your ERP system.

The quickest way to calculate a price for your haulage job is the online calculator. Enter the collection and delivery postcodes, the dimensions and the weight, and the result appears within seconds. You can also book directly in the DAGO app or request a quote by email. From Brussels, the same network reaches the Netherlands, Germany, France and the rest of mainland Europe.

Frequently asked questions about freight transport in Brussels

How many pallets can freight transport in Brussels carry?

Capacity depends on pallet dimensions, weight and the vehicle. Share the shipment details so we can plan a suitable truck.

Can I request a tail lift for freight transport in Brussels?

Yes. Tell us if neither the pickup nor delivery site has a loading dock or forklift; we will check the availability of a suitable vehicle.

When should I choose a part load or a full truck load for Brussels?

That depends on volume, weight and delivery date. A part load shares available space; a full load reserves a vehicle for your freight.

Small and urgent shipment? See courier service in Brussels

How quickly can a vehicle collect my goods for Brussels?

After you confirm the booking, a suitable vehicle is usually at your premises in the UK within 60 to 120 minutes. You can also choose a fixed collection time if your loading bay has set slots.

Will my consignment be reloaded on the way to Brussels?

No. We plan every job as a direct transport, so the goods stay on the same vehicle from collection in the UK to the delivery address in Brussels, without stops at a groupage depot.

Which Channel crossing is used for freight to Brussels?

Most consignments cross via the Dover–Calais ferry or Le Shuttle from Folkestone. From the French coast, the route continues past Dunkirk and along the E40 via Bruges and Ghent to Brussels.

What customs documents do I need for goods from Great Britain to Belgium?

You need an export declaration in the UK, an import declaration in the EU and valid EORI numbers for sender and importer. Your customs agent should prepare the declarations, which must be in place before collection.

Can you deliver to a stand at Brussels Expo?

Yes. Give us the hall, the delivery window and any access rules of the fair when you book. We choose a vehicle that fits the loading conditions, for example a van with a tail lift for stands without a dock.

How many pallets fit into the largest vehicle?

An articulated lorry with 13.6 loading metres carries 33 Euro pallets and up to 24 tonnes. For smaller loads, there are lorries with 14 or 18 pallets as well as vans and minivans.

Does the Brussels Low Emission Zone affect my delivery?

The whole Brussels-Capital Region is a Low Emission Zone, so the vehicle has to meet its rules. Mention an inner-city delivery address when booking, and we plan the vehicle with this in mind.

How is my freight insured?

Goods are insured through the Schunck Group up to 8.33 SDR per kilogram of gross weight. For higher-value consignments, you can add extra insurance at short notice before the transport.

How can I follow my shipment to Brussels?

You receive a tracking link after booking and an email when the goods are collected and delivered. Regular shippers can manage all orders, ETAs and reports in the DAGO ShipperHub.

How do I get a price for freight from the UK to Brussels?

Enter the collection and delivery postcodes, the dimensions and the weight in the online price calculator, and the price appears within seconds. Alternatively, book in the app or ask for a quote by email.
