*Carrier liability insurance

Carrier insurance is not required for bicycles or motorcycles. It protects against the financial consequences of damage to or loss of transported goods. DAGO requires transport partners to maintain insurance with a minimum coverage of 8.33 SDR per kilogram of the gross weight of the cargo.

Smartphone & DAGO Express Driver App

To use our Driver App, an iPhone or Android smartphone is required. The app must be used during the execution of the order. This ensures that all trips are tracked and documented for safety purposes.

This is how we work together

Schritt 1
Registration
Please download our app from the Play Store or Apple Store onto your smartphone. Simply search for “DAGO Express Driver”. Registration is completed directly via our app. Please go through the entire verification process. Document verification usually takes 1–2 weeks.
Schritt 2
Finding your first job
Go to the “Find Jobs” section in the app. We suggest certain prices for transports. If you accept our offer, you increase your chances of being awarded the job. Please note that submitting an offer does not automatically result in being assigned the job. We usually contact you by phone.
Schritt 3
Order acceptance
If we are interested in your offer, we will contact you via the app, by phone, or by email to confirm acceptance of the order. For new partners, orders are usually assigned only on the day before or on the day of transport. An exception applies to orders with pick-up early on Monday morning or during the weekend – these are assigned on Friday. Partners with a high quality score can receive orders up to 7 days in advance.
Schritt 4
Order Execution and Payment
You can find the accepted job in your app. In the job, tap the “Start Job” button to begin the trip. Drive directly to the delivery address without unnecessary stops and update each step through the app. After completing the job, please issue an invoice to DAGO Express GmbH. It is strictly forbidden to pass the job on to other people. Violations may result in no payment for the freight and permanent account suspension. It is also forbidden to tell the customer the transport price or show them the document with full job details.

The purpose of this list of frequently asked questions is to give you a better understanding of the basic processes used by DAGO Express so that you can carry out your transport orders smoothly from the outset and handle invoicing correctly. We therefore ask you to take your time and read through all the questions and answers below.

Registration & general information

What requirements apply for registering as a transport partner?

To register as a driver partner with DAGO Express, the following requirements must be met:

- A vehicle (bicycle, scooter, car, van, or truck), regardless of whether it is purchased, leased, or rented.

- A valid business registration with the corresponding proof.

- Transport or carrier insurance (mandatory for cars and larger vehicles, not required for bicycles or motorcycles).

- An iPhone or Android smartphone, as using the Driver App is mandatory during order execution. The app is also required to receive new orders.

Is an application necessary if I want to cooperate with DAGO Express?

No, registering on the DAGO Express website is completely sufficient and also free of charge. After registration, simply upload the required documents and wait until access to our platform is activated, which usually takes about 1–2 weeks.

Am I in the right place with DAGO Express if I am looking for a permanent driving job?

No, unfortunately not. DAGO Express does not offer permanent employment but only individual transport assignments. We assign jobs exclusively to independent subcontractors. To cooperate with us, a registered business and access to a vehicle are required.

Is the use of the DAGO Express freight exchange free of charge?

Yes, registration and use of our portal are completely free.

How frequently will I receive transport assignments?

Instead of continuous workload, we offer individual transport assignments that you can view online daily. If you are interested in carrying out a transport, please submit your price offer. If your offer is accepted, we will contact you and award the job.

Does a permanent employment contract arise between DAGO Express and the courier partner?

No, each freight contract is considered an individual assignment; a permanent contract between DAGO Express and the courier partner does not result from this.

Where are the assignments carried out?

Assignments have different destinations – regional, national, or international.

What is transported most frequently?

Documents, parcels, construction materials, trade fair goods, Euro pallets, etc.

Can I become a transport partner only as a driver without a vehicle?

No, a vehicle is a prerequisite for cooperation. Only transport partners who have access to at least one vehicle
can be considered. The vehicle may be purchased, leased, or rented.

Is a car or a bicycle sufficient to become a transport partner?

Yes, absolutely. Registration as a transport partner is possible with a car or even a bicycle.
Smaller shipments, such as parcels or letters, can easily be transported this way.

How long does it take to verify my documents?

As a rule, verification should be completed within 1–2 weeks after uploading your documents.

Do I need to appear in person to be activated as a transport partner?

No, there is no need for personal appearance. After registration and uploading your documents, we will review them and then activate you as a transport partner. From that moment, you can submit bids for transport assignments and accept jobs via the website.

Bidding and first transport order

How do I receive a courier assignment?

1. Log in with your account.
2. Submit your best offer for an open job under ‘‘Available Transports‘‘.
3. If your offer is accepted, we will contact you by phone and assign you the job.

How high must my bid be to receive an assignment?

Our system automatically calculates a suggested price based on factors such as postal code, type of shipment, and required vehicle. To maximize your chances of getting an assignment, you may accept this suggestion or submit a lower price. Remember: your service quality also matters – for example, punctuality and your track record of successfully completed or canceled assignments.

When does job allocation take place?

If we are interested in your offer, we will contact you by phone or email to confirm acceptance.
For new partners, allocation usually occurs the day before or on the transport day itself.
Exceptions apply to early Monday or weekend pickups – these jobs are typically allocated on Friday.
Partners with a high quality score can receive assignments up to seven days in advance.

How can I find available transport assignments?

Once registered and activated, you can log into our portal. Under “Find Assignments,” you will see all available transport jobs and can submit bids. If you win a job, our team will contact you.

Do I automatically receive the job after submitting a bid?

No. Submitting a bid does not automatically result in receiving the assignment. If your offer is of interest, we will contact you by phone or email to confirm acceptance. For new partners, allocation usually takes place on the day of transport or the day before. Jobs with early Monday or weekend pickups are typically allocated on Friday. Partners with a very good quality score may receive assignments up to seven days in advance.

How will I be informed about assignment allocation?

Our specialized team handles the allocation of transport assignments. Once you are awarded a job, we will inform you by phone or email. You will also receive a confirmation email with all relevant transport details. Of course, you can also view your jobs online at any time.

How can I change my bid?

If you wish to submit a new bid for the same job but at a different price, you must first withdraw your previous bid and then enter a new one.

Is it possible to complete multiple jobs with my vehicle on one tour?

No, with our assignments you may only transport the specified goods of that single job. Each job is assigned to one specific vehicle.

Why do I need carrier liability insurance?

Carrier liability insurance covers damage to cargo that occurs during transport. This protects the owner of the goods from financial losses due to damage, loss, or theft. This insurance is especially worthwhile if you are transporting valuable goods with a high risk of loss or damage.

Where can I get carrier liability insurance?

You can use insurance companies such as AXA, Allianz, or Ergo Hestia, or simply search for the appropriate contact in your country using ChatGPT or Google by entering the keyword: Carrier liability insurance [Country] Contact.

Is carrier liability insurance the same as carrier insurance, and what is the difference between these and motor vehicle liability or business liability insurance?

Yes, carrier liability insurance and carrier insurance are the same product. The goods are insured for the entire duration of transport. A coverage amount of €50,000 is recommended. This allows you to transport standard commercial goods. In contrast, motor vehicle liability insurance only covers damage to your own and other vehicles, not the goods being transported.

Business liability insurance, on the other hand, covers risks for business owners and protects you against damages caused by employees to third parties or their property in a professional context. This includes personal injury, property damage, or financial losses as a direct result of personal or property damage.

Why do I need a business registration?

A business registration is required whenever you want to officially and legally carry out self-employed activities. Anyone starting a business must register it with the relevant authority.

Where do I get the business registration?

To register your business, you need to make an appointment with the relevant trade or regulatory office. You must provide all information relevant to your business. After registration, you will receive a business license, which allows you to work with us.

Transport order execution in correct form

What should I do if there are no accompanying documents (e.g., delivery notes) at the loading point?

It is advisable to always carry a blank CMR form with you for such cases. The recipient can fill out and sign the form at the loading point. Blank CMR forms can be ordered online.
Note: If there are no documents at the loading point, you must fill out a CMR form yourself and have it signed by the recipient. This proof is required later for the release of your invoice.

What should I do if I expect to be late?

If you foresee a delay, please contact us immediately. Our team will then get in touch with the loading or unloading point to coordinate and ensure a smooth process.

What happens in the event of transport damage?

If a shipment is damaged during transport, we expect you to inform us immediately. Document the damage with a photo and send it to [email protected]. A phone call would also be appreciated.

Invoicing and payment

What are the requirements for invoicing?

To ensure smooth and timely processing of your invoice, please consider the following information:

  • Payment terms: The number of days is counted from the date of receipt of a correctly issued invoice together with the complete transport documentation provided to the contractor, including the consignment note (CMR), delivery note, and any other documents required by the client. (Please note that the specified email address is configured exclusively for processing electronic invoices.)
  • Any other communication (questions, reminders, etc.) should be sent to the following email address: [email protected]
  • Please observe the following rule: 1 invoice with attachments = 1 PDF = 1 email. Only invoices in PDF format will be accepted. Other formats (Excel, Word, JPG) will not be processed.
  • Please ensure that the transport order number is listed on your invoice. This allows us to correctly assign your delivery/service and process your invoice promptly.

My company is not registered in Germany. What do I need to consider when invoicing?

If the courier partner’s company is not based in Germany, the reverse charge procedure applies. In this case, the recipient of the service bears the tax liability. Here, DAGO Express GmbH is the recipient of the service, as our transport partners provide a service (the transport of goods) for DAGO Express. Therefore, when invoicing, the courier partner should only invoice the net amount for the transport assignment and should not show any VAT.

Is it necessary to show VAT on my invoice if I am a small business owner?

Small business owners must not and may not show VAT separately according to § 19 UStG. Only the net amount appears on the invoice.

What is a delivery note or proof of delivery?

The proof of delivery, also known as a CMR, confirms that a delivery was made at a specific time to a named recipient. This type of document is often used in logistics and freight management. It documents the delivery status and later the confirmation of proper delivery. Without this documentation, it is impossible for the recipient to determine whether the damage to the goods occurred during pickup or transport. The proof of delivery is often referred to as "POD," which stands for "Proof of Delivery."

Is it possible to invoice without proof of delivery?

No, we require the corresponding proof of delivery for invoicing an assignment.
