What is Cross-Channel transit?

The term “Cross-Channel Transit” refers to the cross-border transport of goods across a channel or sea passage, particularly between mainland Europe and the United Kingdom. It most commonly describes freight movement through the English Channel, for example via ferry or the Channel Tunnel. More broadly, the term includes all logistical processes required to move goods efficiently from one country to another across a body of water, including customs clearance, transshipment, and onward transportation.
