Artificial Intelligence (AI) is redefining the logistics landscape, and for entrepreneur Damian Golunski, it’s a true gamechanger—when used with care and oversight. At DAGO Express, a leading express transport company for EU-wide deliveries, AI is not just a trend but a strategic tool for driving efficiency, cost savings, and business growth.
DAGO Express sets itself apart from traditional freight companies. As a fully digital express logistics provider, the company operates without its own fleet, instead relying on a network of trusted subcontractors. DAGO Express takes full responsibility for every shipment, ensuring direct, non-stop deliveries with the fastest lead times on the market. This approach, combined with a strong presence in 38 European countries, has established DAGO Express as a reliable partner for urgent transport needs.
When time is of the essence, DAGO Express specializes in door-to-door deliveries, often with just one driver, ensuring maximum speed and reliability. The company’s customer base is 90% German, ranging from small businesses to large corporations across various industries. With more than 500 transports handled every month, DAGO Express has quickly become a key player in the European express logistics sector.
Damian Golunski is convinced of AI’s potential but stresses the importance of human oversight: “You have to be careful with AI. It’s crucial to monitor which questions and algorithms you use. But AI gives us valuable impulses and raises our quality standards.” Since early 2022, DAGO Express has been integrating AI into its core processes, with the most significant impact seen in route planning and profitability analysis. The company’s proprietary tools predict delays, optimize pricing, and ensure that every transport remains profitable.
Artificial intelligence is already making a measurable impact on cost efficiency at DAGO Express. The AI-driven pricing algorithm continuously analyzes over 500 monthly transports, taking into account factors such as pick-up and delivery regions and vehicle type. This allows DAGO Express to quickly identify which transports are profitable and where adjustments are needed to improve margins. According to managing director Damian Golunski, the use of AI in profitability analysis saves the company around two working days per month—equivalent to a full working month per year, or approximately €4,000.
AI also plays a key role in digital marketing. With the introduction of a specialized SEO tool, DAGO Express has automated the creation of search-optimized website content. Previously, this work was handled by freelancers, but now the tool manages over 700 subpages, helping the company attract new customers via Google. This shift has resulted in annual savings of around €20,000.
The impact of these digital strategies is clearly reflected in the company’s growth: DAGO Express achieved 30% revenue growth last year and is on track for 60% growth this year—doubling its pace compared to the previous year.
By integrating AI into both operational and marketing processes, DAGO Express is able to work more efficiently, make faster decisions, and support its rapid growth in the European logistics market.
DAGO Express is currently entering the French and Dutch markets, with all operations coordinated centrally from its headquarters in Frankfurt (Oder). Artificial intelligence is a key driver of this expansion strategy. One of the most impactful new tools is an AI-powered translation assistant, which automatically translates incoming emails—such as customer inquiries in French—so that staff can respond just as efficiently as they would to German requests. This seamless communication significantly lowers barriers to entry in new markets and accelerates the onboarding of international clients.
In addition, AI supports the company’s ability to scale by providing real-time data and process transparency, ensuring that workflows remain efficient even as the business grows. For DAGO Express, these AI-driven solutions are true gamechangers, enabling rapid and effective expansion across Europe.
Looking ahead, DAGO Express is already evaluating further international markets and new AI applications, with the goal of offering its services wherever they make sense—and possibly even expanding into the UK or the US in the near future.
