Insurance policy for carriers in goods transportation

*Carrier liability insurance

Motor Truck Cargo Insurance is not required for bicycles, motorcycles, and cars; however, it is mandatory for higher vehicle categories such as vans and box trucks. This coverage provides financial protection in the event of damage to or loss of freight. DAGO requires transport partners to maintain a Cargo Policy with a minimum coverage limit of $50,000 per occurrence.

Note! Do not confuse Cargo Insurance with:

  • Commercial Auto Insurance
  • General Liability Insurance

Smartphone & DAGO Express Driver App

To use our Driver App, an iPhone or Android smartphone is required. The app must be used while carrying out an order. This allows all trips to be tracked and documented for safety and operational purposes.

This is how we work together

Step 1
Registration
Download our app from the Play Store or Apple Store to your smartphone. Simply search for “DAGO Express Driver”. Registration is completed directly in the app. Please complete the full verification process. Document review typically takes 1–2 weeks.
Step 2
Finding your first job
Go to the “Find Jobs” section in the app. We suggest pricing for available transports. By accepting an offer, you increase your chances of being assigned the job. Please note that submitting an offer does not automatically guarantee assignment. We usually contact you by phone, email, or directly through the app.
Step 3
Order acceptance
If we are interested in your offer, we will contact you via the app, by phone, or by email to confirm acceptance of the job. For new partners, jobs are typically assigned on the day before or on the day of transport. An exception applies to jobs with pickup early Monday morning or over the weekend, which are assigned on Friday. Partners with a high quality score may receive jobs up to 7 days in advance.
Step 4
Order execution and payment
You will find the accepted job in your app. Tap “Start Job” to begin the trip. Drive directly to the delivery address without unnecessary stops and update each step in the app. After completing the job, issue an invoice to DAGO Express Inc. Passing the job on to any other person is strictly prohibited. Violations may result in non-payment of the freight and permanent account suspension. You must not disclose transport pricing or show full job documents to the customer.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

Essential reading for transport and courier partners at DAGO Express

This FAQ is designed to help you understand the core processes at DAGO Express, so you can complete transport jobs smoothly from day one and handle invoicing correctly. Please take a moment to review all questions and answers below.

Registration & General Information

What requirements apply for registering as a transport partner?

To register as a driver partner with DAGO Express, you need:

  • Your own vehicle – bicycle, scooter, car, van or truck (owned, leased or rented).
  • A registered business (LLC, corporation or sole proprietorship) with an EIN or SSN. We need a completed IRS Form W-9 before your first payment.
  • Motor Truck Cargo Insurance with at least $50,000 per occurrence for vans, box trucks and larger vehicles (not required for bicycles, motorcycles and cars). Your insurance agent sends us the certificate of insurance (COI) directly.
  • For loads that cross state lines: an active MC number (operating authority), plus a USDOT number for vehicles with a GVWR of 10,001 lb or more. Without an MC number you can take loads that start and end in the same state.
  • You need an iPhone or Android smartphone with the DAGO Express Driver App – using the app is mandatory during every load.

Is an application necessary if I want to cooperate with DAGO Express?

No, registering on the DAGO Express website is completely sufficient and also free of charge. After registration, simply upload the required documents and wait until access to our platform is activated, which usually takes about 1–2 weeks.

Am I in the right place with DAGO Express if I am looking for a permanent driving job?

No, unfortunately not. DAGO Express does not offer permanent employment but only individual transport assignments. However, we do assign jobs to independent subcontractors. To work with us, having your own business registration and your own vehicle are fundamental requirements.

Is the use of the DAGO Express freight exchange free of charge?

Yes, registration and use of our portal are completely free.

How frequently will I receive transport assignments?

Instead of continuous workload, we offer individual transport assignments that you can view online daily. If you are interested in carrying out a transport, please submit your price offer. If your offer is accepted, we will contact you and award the job.

Does a permanent employment contract arise between DAGO Express and the courier partner?

No, each freight contract is considered an individual assignment; a permanent contract between DAGO Express and the courier partner does not result from this.

Where are the assignments carried out?

Loads can be local, regional or across the U.S. Without an MC number you can only take loads that start and end in the same state; loads that cross a state line require an active MC number.

What is transported most frequently?

Documents, parcels, construction materials, trade show goods, pallets, etc.

Can I become a transport partner only as a driver without my own vehicle?

No, having your own vehicle is a prerequisite for cooperation. Only transport partners who own at least one vehicle can be considered.

Is a car or a bicycle sufficient to become a transport partner?

Yes, absolutely. With a car or even a bicycle, nothing stands in the way of registering as a transport partner. Smaller shipments, such as parcels or letters, can be transported without issue.

How long does it take to verify my documents?

As a rule, verification should be completed within 1–2 weeks after uploading your documents.

Do I need to appear in person to be activated as a transport partner?

No, there is no need for personal appearance. After registration and uploading your documents, we will review them and then activate you as a transport partner. From that moment, you can submit bids for transport assignments and accept jobs via the website.

Bidding and First Transport Order

How do I receive a courier assignment?

1. Log in with your account.
2. Submit your best offer for an open job under “Find Loads”.
3. If your offer is accepted, we will contact you by phone and assign you the job.

How high must my bid be to receive an assignment?

Our system automatically calculates a suggested price based on factors such as postal code, type of shipment, and required vehicle. You may also submit a higher price, but accepting the suggested rate gives you the best chance of getting the load. Remember: your service quality also matters – for example, punctuality and your track record of successfully completed or canceled assignments.

When does job allocation take place?

If we are interested in your offer, we will contact you by phone or email to confirm acceptance.
For new partners, allocation usually occurs the day before or on the transport day itself.
Exceptions apply to early Monday or weekend pickups – these jobs are typically allocated on Friday.
Partners with a high quality score can receive assignments up to seven days in advance.

How can I find available transport assignments?

Once registered and activated, you can log into our portal. Under “Find Loads,” you will see all available transport jobs and can submit bids. If you win a job, our team will contact you.

Do I automatically receive the job after submitting a bid?

No. Submitting a bid does not automatically result in receiving the assignment. If your offer is of interest, we will contact you by phone or email to confirm acceptance. For new partners, allocation usually takes place on the day of transport or the day before. Jobs with early Monday or weekend pickups are typically allocated on Friday. Partners with a very good quality score may receive assignments up to seven days in advance.

How will I be informed about assignment allocation?

Our specialized team handles the allocation of transport assignments. Once you are awarded a job, we will inform you by phone or email. You will also receive a confirmation email with all relevant transport details. Of course, you can also view your jobs online at any time.

How can I change my bid?

If you wish to submit a new bid for the same job but at a different price, you must first withdraw your previous bid and then enter a new one.

Is it possible to complete multiple jobs with my vehicle on one tour?

No, with our assignments you may only transport the specified goods of that single job. Each job is assigned to one specific vehicle.

Required Documents

Why do I need carrier liability insurance?

Carrier liability insurance covers damage to cargo that occurs during transport. This protects the owner of the goods from financial losses due to damage, loss, or theft. This insurance is especially worthwhile if you are transporting valuable goods with a high risk of loss or damage.

Where can I get carrier liability insurance?

Motor Truck Cargo Insurance is offered by U.S. commercial insurers and independent insurance agents. Search for "motor truck cargo insurance" in your state or ask your current commercial auto insurance agent. Your agent must send us the certificate of insurance (COI) directly, with DAGO Express Inc. as certificate holder.

Is carrier liability insurance the same as carrier insurance, and what is the difference between these and motor vehicle liability or business liability insurance?

Yes, it is the same coverage: the freight is insured for the entire transport. The minimum is $50,000 per occurrence, which covers standard commercial goods. Cargo insurance is not required for bicycles, motorcycles and cars; it is mandatory for vans and larger vehicles.

Auto liability insurance only covers damage caused by operating your vehicle (injuries and property damage of third parties), not the freight you carry.

General liability insurance covers risks of your business activities (for example damage to third parties or their property), but usually not damage to the freight you transport.

Why do I need a business registration?

A business registration is required whenever you want to officially and legally carry out self-employed activities. Anyone starting a business must register it with the relevant authority.

Where do I get the business registration?

An LLC or corporation is registered with the Secretary of State of your state; as a sole proprietor you may need a local business license, depending on your city and county. You also need a taxpayer ID for the W-9 – an EIN (free at irs.gov) or your SSN.

Proper execution of transport orders

What should I do if there are no accompanying documents (e.g., delivery notes) at the loading point?

Always carry a blank Bill of Lading (BOL) with you. If there are no documents at pickup, fill out the BOL yourself, have the shipper sign it at pickup and the recipient sign it at delivery.

Take photos of the signed BOL and of the freight at every pickup and every delivery. This proof is required later to release your invoice.

What should I do if I expect to be late?

If you foresee a delay, please contact us immediately. Our team will then get in touch with the loading or unloading point to coordinate and ensure a smooth process.

What happens in the event of transport damage?

If a shipment is damaged during transport, inform us immediately – call +1 757 573 9249 or email [email protected] with the load number. Document the damage with photos of the freight and of the Bill of Lading, and note the damage on the BOL before the recipient signs it.

Invoicing and payments

What are the requirements for invoicing?

To ensure smooth and timely processing of your invoice, please consider the following information:

Invoice address:
DAGO Express Inc.
2574 Elm Street
River Grove, IL 60171
United States

Please send your invoices in PDF format to: [email protected]

  • Payment terms: we pay within 30 days from the date we receive a complete and correctly issued invoice together with the signed Bill of Lading (BOL) or proof of delivery (POD). Payment terms do not begin until complete and legible documents are received.
  • 1 email = 1 load: one invoice plus its transport documents per email. Only PDF files are accepted – Excel, Word or JPG files will not be processed.
  • The load number must be on your invoice. Invoices without a load number cannot be matched and are considered not received.
  • us-invoice@ is used exclusively for automated invoice processing – messages sent there are not read.
  • Questions, payment requests and reminders: [email protected] – always include the load number. We usually reply within 1–2 business days.

Do I need to add tax to my invoice?

No. Invoice the agreed rate for the load. DAGO Express Inc. is a U.S. company, so there is no VAT and no reverse charge. Before your first payment we need a completed IRS Form W-9 (your business name, address and taxpayer ID – EIN or SSN), so we can pay you and issue a Form 1099 at year end where required.

Can I get paid faster?

Yes. Instead of the standard 30 days you can choose accelerated payment:

  • Immediate Payment – 10% discount: we pay your invoice within 48 hours.
  • Express Payment – 5% discount: we pay your invoice within 14 days.

Reduce your invoice by 10% or 5% and send it together with legible delivery documents (signed BOL / POD) to [email protected]. In the subject line write, for example, "Order 1234 Discount 10%" or "Order 1234 Discount 5%".

What is a Bill of Lading or proof of delivery?

Proof of delivery (POD) – usually the Bill of Lading (BOL) signed by the recipient – confirms that a shipment was delivered at a specific time to a named recipient. It documents the condition of the freight at delivery. Without it, nobody can tell whether damage happened at pickup or during transport.

Is it possible to invoice without proof of delivery?

No, we require the corresponding proof of delivery for invoicing an assignment.
